About Us

Sustainable Scituate is a grassroots organization of Scituate residents who advocate for renewable energy and conservation measures in our town. Our goal is to help area residents conserve energy, protect the environment, and live sustainable lives.

We do this by meeting local needs through local resources. We show our commitment to conservation by promoting recycling, energy audits of our homes and town buildings, anti-idling in our cars, and the use of durable and reusable shopping bags. We work with town government to move toward the use of renewable energy. We encourage organic farming and gardening. We believe in the Local First initiative, supporting our local, independent businesses.

Sustainable Scituate is part of
Sustainable South Shore, a multi-town advocacy group committed to the same goals. Sustainable South Shore, in turn, is a chapter of the Massachusetts Climate Action Network (MCAN), a network of local groups, dedicated to halting the threat of global climate change.  MCAN affliated groups can be found in half of all Massachusetts cities and towns.

Sustainable Scituate meets monthly at the Little Red School House behind Gates School
